My name is Sukhpal Parmar, I am the owner and CEO of Ready Solar. My journey into renewable energy began in 2020 during the COVID-19 pandemic. Since the inception of Ready Solar we have successfully installed over 2 million watts across the Lower Mainland and Fraser Valley. In January 2020 I was working in the Financial Services industry, although I was successful I was unsatisfied with the work I was doing. I have always had an entrepreneurial spirit and was interested in the green space. When COVID-19 and lockdowns around the world hit it opened my eyes to a whole other world. I’ve always had a strong belief in food security and that no human should go without food. At the time, I was volunteering with an organization which takes food (which would otherwise go to waste) from grocery stores and provides it to charitable organizations to distribute to those in need. When supply chain issues and border closures began impacting food security for people all around the world my interest in self sustainability became heightened. I was concerned for the security of my family on a personal level and the population as a whole on a grander scale. At the same time, because of the work I was doing in finance (stock and options trading), I ensured that I was well informed about different industries, sectors and technologies. I knew that renewable energy was and is the future. I came across some information on Vertical Farming and this peaked my interest. Ready Solar actually began as Ready Veg. I was interested in building and distributing vertical farms for residential spaces. I began this project by making a goal of growing 500lbs of food in a greenhouse shed which I built in my backyard. As I worked on this project my curiosity into renewable energy was aroused. The amount and cost of the electricity that it required for me to reach my goal was astronomical. It also felt like the positive impact that growing my own food would have on the environment was being negated by the amount of energy that was being used. As I researched different renewable energy sources it became clear to me that solar panels were the best solution. During this process, I quickly learned that there was space in this industry for growth. I wasn’t able to find many companies who valued quality and were still affordable servicing the Lower Mainland and Fraser Valley. I decided to take on the task of learning and installing my own PV Solar Panel system, from there my knowledge and passion for the industry grew and Ready Solar was born. As mentioned earlier, since then Ready Solar has successfully installed over 2 million watts. I’ve never looked back and my passion for renewable energy is even stronger today than it was the day I began. I am proud of the positive, long lasting impact Ready Solar is having on the planet and the role we are playing in securing a healthy future for the planet and it’s population as a whole.
